In Havelock North, there’s a local Maori tale: a giant by the name of Rongokako died when clearing a pathway through the hills to Waimarama in an effort to prove his love. Look out over the town today and you can’t miss the distinct peak of Te Mata-o-Rongokako. Just as European settlers who arrived in the region discovered, it’s easy to spot a sleeping giant in the landscape, and so the legend lives on. Hawke’s Bay is renowned for its Chardonnay, and this Majestic-exclusive wine is a fantastic example of the quality the region is famed for. You’ll find it rich with layers of citrus and stone-fruit flavours, plus a vibrant acidity. Partial ageing in French oak barriques gives it a rounded texture while still letting the fruit flavours take centre stage.
