Quinta do Noval Colheita Port 2007

Founded in 1715, Quinta do Noval has over 300 years of history in the heartland of Port production. They’re the name behind Nacional – the most prized Port in the region that commands equally high prices. Meaning ‘harvest’ or ‘crop’, Colheita Ports are Tawny Ports made with grapes from a single vintage. Unlike regular Vintage Ports that are bottled young, they’re legally required to be aged for seven years in oak before release. But Quinta do Noval take it even further – they wait almost 15 years before the Port is deemed ready to be bottled. It’s made with handpicked grapes grown on steep terraced vineyards overlooking the Douro river. In a classic style, grapes are trodden by foot and fermented in traditional granite tanks, known as Lagares. Expect rich and intense notes of toasted almonds, dried fruits, liquorice and spice.
