Mayu Gran Reserva Pinot Noir

Mayu was established in 2005 and named after the ancient Inca word for the Milky Way. The Elqui Valley region is one of Chile’s most northerly, with vineyards reaching just shy of 2, 000 metres altitude. Winemaker Giorgio Flessati, who studied at Italy’s oldest oenology school, leads the winery, creating distinctive premium wines from the unique terroir. For this single vineyard Pinot Noir, grapes are hand harvested from the Quebrada de Talca and Titon vineyards, 18 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. After careful selection and gentle crushing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks before being aged for 10 months in French oak barrels to add structure. A silky, medium-bodied wine with soft tannins. Expect intense flavours of red fruit, sweet flowers and spicy notes. We recommend pairing this with roast duck or mushroom-based dishes. The wine’s delicate profile would also complement soft cheeses such as baked Camembert with rosemary.
