Lyrarakis Assyrtiko-Vidiano Orange Wine, Crete
£13.99
Orange wine is a unique style where white grapes are fermented with their skins, giving it an amber hue and richer flavour. If you’re yet to try one, this Greek bottling offers the perfect introduction. The highly renowned Lyrarakis family has been making wines in Crete since 1966, with roots going back to ancient Cretan wine making traditions. Their vineyards in Heraklion, located at over 500 metres altitude, benefit from the perfect terroir for Assyrtiko and Vidiano grapes. Winemaker Myriam Ambuzer has been with Lyrarakis for over 20 years bringing her expertise from Spain to crafting this wine. Grapes are macerated for seven days, and post-fermentation, the wine spends five months in concrete tanks to develop its complex flavours. Discover lively notes of stone fruits and zingy citrus peel, with a silky structure and fresh acidity. A touch of tannin on the finish makes it a wonderful option for semi hard cheeses, or white meats in creamy sauces.
