Château de Pougelon ‘Grille-Midi’ Fleurie 2020

The Gamay grape reaches its pinnacle in the Beaujolais Cru village of Fleurie, where Château de Pougelon has been part of the landscape for nearly 400 years. The fifth-generation winemaker of the estate, Marine Descombe, specialises in low-intervention vinification and is dedicated to sustainable agricultural practices. Her Grille-Midi plot is set on a basin of sand and pink granite – typical of the Fleurie region – and yet the wine produced is far from standard. Expect notes of lilac, violet and red berries – ideal for pairing with lamb leg, poultry or cheese.
